Benefit from the health advantages of turmeric

  • Anti-inflammatory: The active ingredient curcumin often fights inflammation in the body as effectively as some medications.

  • Powerful antioxidant: Protects cells from damage caused by free radicals.

  • Aids digestion: Stimulates bile production and relieves bloating.

Important note regarding absorption: Curcumin is poorly water-soluble and is very poorly absorbed by the body when taken in isolation. It is therefore important to combine it with black pepper . The piperine it contains increases bioavailability (absorption) by up to 2000% .

Cut turmeric root – Uses

For turmeric-ginger tea: Place one teaspoon of sliced turmeric root and two slices of ginger into a tea infuser or tea filter and pour hot water over it. If desired, add a cinnamon stick and sweeten with a little honey. Let it steep for about 6 minutes.

For turmeric paste: Finely chop one onion and one clove of garlic, mix with 1/2 tsp cumin, 1 tsp coriander seeds, and 3 tsp chopped turmeric root, and purée everything. If necessary, add 2 tbsp oil or a little water, as well as salt and pepper, to make the paste creamy. For a spicier version, add some Tabasco sauce. Due to the extremely long fermentation time, the chili in Tabasco is lectin-free.

For orange-ginger shots: Squeeze the juice from 3 lemons and 2 oranges and mix with 50g fresh ginger, about 50g sliced turmeric root, and 1/2 tsp coconut oil. Puree everything finely and chill in the refrigerator. The turmeric-ginger shot will keep for about 3-4 days.
